Tarzan-X: The Shame of Jane is an Italian pornographic film shot in 1995 and directed by Joe d’Amato. It is an adaptation of the novel Tarzan of the Apes by the American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs, the first of the Tarzan series. The title protagonist, played by Rocco Siffredi, is a white young man raised by monkeys in the African jungle who accidentally meets a group of European adventurers on an expedition, including the beautiful Jane (played by Rosa Caracciolo). The story shows how thanks to her he gets to know civilization. The film was shot on location in Kenya, and later the material shot by d’Amato was “recycled” into two sequels. During the filming, Siffredi and Caracciolo were in a relationship, and shortly afterwards they got married.
